Injection Molded Components for the Tactical/Firearm Industry

The premium quality products we produce at R&D Molders, Inc. are used in a variety of precision applications. The injection molded part shown here is part of a piece of tactical equipment for the AR-15 rife, and is used by a customer in the defense industry. The tactical component is molded using 55% glass filled nylon and injection molding equipment that ranges from 55 to 300 tons. A TPE soft touch rubber material is over-molded to an acetal substrate during the injection molding process, eliminating the need for secondary assembly processes.

Glass filled nylon is an ideal material choice for durability and strength, but can be challenging to mold due to its flow characteristics. To produce this component custom post-mold cooling fixtures were fabricated to ensure that the final dimensions meet customer specifications. In process inspection are performed according to our stringent quality control standards. We can develop custom testing procedures based on customer specifications for a range of specialty applications.
